As an associate in the 110 person Boston office, I was the prime client contact for five to ten major retail clients facilitating all phases of projects from proposals and budgets through design, document preparations, specifications, and construction administration.  I actively marketed new projects and clients while maintaining my current client and project base. In addition to my project responsibilities; I was the staffing manager for all architectural projects. As part of this responsibility, I participated in hiring new staff, firing and laying-off current staff, ensuring that current staff were being best utilized and placed within project teams, and assisted in architectural discipline responsibilities including mentoring.

As project designer for an 90 person firm I worked directly with major assisted living developers to develop assisted / Alzheimer / special care / independent care facilities in seven U.S. states acting as the primary client contact and team leader for 8 persons. As accessibility specialist, I worked closely with the code quality assurance VP performing in-house accessibility review and consultation for all firm projects both in the Boston and New York City offices.

2003, Working with Valerie Fletcher Executive Director, I initiated and coordinated design criteria for a human centered design and Universal Design assessment tool through the formulation of a Human

Centered Design Assessment Tool v 1.0.  The tool integrates Universal Design and sustainable design principles but expands the view to include human experiential elements of the built environment. The tool has required extensive research and testing of the tool on diverse public building types in New England.

2003, Developed code and environmental requirements matrix for the New England region of the United States.

2003, Participated in the assembly of the student design program for the Designing for the 21st Century conference on Universal Design to be held in Brazil 2004.

2003, Programming for new organization offices including the review and feasibility of potential building sites in and around Boston, MA.

SOURCES is a non-profit independent living center serving the disability community of northwest Arkansas.

Served as chairperson of the executive director search committee responsible for selecting a new executive director for the center. Served as co-chair for the ADA / Fair Housing advocacy committee October 1994 – July 1996, providing technical assistance and advocacy for the ADA and Fair Housing Act amendments of 1988.  Resigned from organization upon appointment by the city council of Fayetteville, AR to the Historic District Commission. I did continue to support SOURCES and provide continued technical assistance and pro-bono design services.

Served as an appointee by the mayor on a task force convened to study existing city regulations concerning compliance with the ADA and Fair Housing act amendments of 1988; and to study how new regulations may increase compliance under both civil rights acts.

Co-authored, with city staff, Resolution 25-96 aimed at reducing non-compliance through awareness, education and certification of architectural plans as being in compliance with the accessibility guidelines of the acts. Resolution 25-96 was approved unanimously by the Fayetteville City Council on February 20, 1996.

Co-authored, with city staff, NOTICES for use by the planning and inspection divisions of the city to provide developers, architects, and builders with awareness and education to their responsibilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act and Fair Housing Act amendments of 1988
